Dear President-elect Boakai,

You won many accolades after your concession in the 2017 General and Presidential elections as a sitting Vice President of the Republic of Liberia.

Amb. George WEAH reciprocated the same in the just-ended elections, thereby strengthening our democracy and giving a beacon of hope for all aspiring politicians – including myself.

These great political actions have placed our country amongst the comity of nations as a beacon of hope and exemplary leadership. Kudos to you all.

Hon. President- Elect, all these excellent actions will be disregarded globally by the latest action of your party to file a declaratory judgment against the newly elected Speaker, Hon. J. Fonati Koffa as relates to an alleged US Passport. Something only happening after Cllr. Koffa’s many roles within Liberia’s political corridors, some while you served the government yourself.

Hon. Boakai do you know how many Liberians linked your citizenship to that of Sierra Leone? How many said your incapability was enough to render your win useless or, that your early departure from Liberia ahead of, and not, being duly certificated at the designated time by the NEC, was tantamount to constitutional crisis?

Nevertheless, His Excellency George WEAH kept the peace and mustered the courage to have you sail smoothly in the wake of all this!!

It’s for me unthinkable that you and your party will begin such an early witch hunt of the third most powerful man of the country, who has the backing of at least thirty-six members of the House of Representatives, yea the people of Liberia.

Attempts to witch-hunt the Speaker have the propensity to get the nation to erupt into chaos and stall your plans for nation-building.

You and the UP can be assured that we will go all out to make sure that your AREST platform yields no result if you ever attempt to witch-hunt our Speaker or interfere with the 55th National Legislature. Be assured there will be consequences.

The Unity Party had every opportunity to seize both houses of the Legislature but your legislators didn’t, and honorable men and women mustered the courage to elect someone astute, one of their kind, one who has distinguished himself amongst many; attempts now to remove him through unorthodox means will only hinder our peace, our development, and our growth.

You have an opportunity in the next six years to transform this country and change the dynamics based on what you set as campaign promises; we can assure you of helping to achieve that but to attempt to interfere with the Legislature, in ways and manner that will divide the country, you can be assured we will be here to make the terrain politically ungovernable.

For us from the CDC, we do not take the position of Speaker (third most powerful) lightly, as it is the only key role we have for now since our people voted; we cherish this move and we will protect it with our blood and sweat. Stand down now, Mr. President-Elect from such divisive politics.

I would like to call on all Liberians, our International partners, and stakeholders to come in and advise the UP and its partisans to desist from a process meant to divide this country. The sooner the UP realizes that Liberians look up to them for leadership, the better.

The fate of our nation lies in your hands! Don’t dismiss the crucial role you have to lead, reconcile, and develop!

STAND DOWN!

Hon. Frank Saah Foko

Representative

District #9

Montserrado County
